Gauges an individual’s innate aptitude and cognitive capabilities relevant to aviation pursuits and learning. The assessment encompasses various dimensions, including Verbal Reasoning, Numerical Reasoning, Working Memory, Perceptual Speed & Accuracy, Spatial Relationship Reasoning, and Abstract Reasoning. The test takes ~30 minutes. Upon completion, students are scored on a 100-point scale.
Upon admission to TXST and the B.A.A.S. program, admission to the flight course component of the aviation program is highly competitive. While students may apply and/or complete requirements after the priority deadlines, they will only be considered for admission to the aviation program after all priority applicants are reviewed and seats remain available in the aviation program.

Timeline
- August 1 – TXST admission application opens.
- December 1 – Priority deadline: Be admitted to TXST in the B.A.A.S. degree program with an aviation program concentration.
- December 15 – Attend evening online information session.
- February 1 – Priority deadline:
- Have an Airman Medical Certificate, 1st class medical for professional intent (Find an Aviation Medical Examiner (AME) near you).
- Completed the Flight Aptitude Test
- Have a valid driver’s license.
- Have taken an ACT or SAT for which the scores have been received by TXST.
- Have submitted all other documents requested by email.
- March 1 – Admission notices are sent.
- April 1 – Deadline to accept admission offer to the aviation program and complete all outstanding paperwork–such as the TXST Enrollment Process Form (which includes documentation of passed physical).

Assessment Matrix
To help ensure candidates will be successful in completing their degree and in the aviation field, students must meet certain eligibility requirements. Texas State students admitted to the B.A.A.S. Aviation program will be assessed for admission to flight courses using the criteria below.
